Yoga Wellbeing Summer Detox Part 1

Part 1 YW Smoothie Guide

The Yoga Wellbeing team has been on an retreat in Spain experimenting with lots of different vibrant recipes to share and run alongside your practice. Having had lots of feedback from our yoga clients and friends about recipes and ideas to continue the ritual of starting the day.

After meditation and yoga on the beach every morning our lovely hosts were on smoothie duty creating a glass of goodness. We had a amazing mix of people come along who all brought there own experiences to the retreat. From day one everyone loved the balance of a dynamic practice in the morning and a restorative practice in the evening. Karen was in recovering from a serious illness and strongly credits smoothies as part of her healing process. Throughout the retreat she taught us about the importance of this little blender in our lives.

So recently we’ve been learning about how the love of all things blended so we can share all of ideas and create a 3 part YW Introductory Smoothie Course. As some of you have commented on not having most of the kitchen appliances needed for these recipes we added a weekly recommendation for great kitchen tools. One of our favourite recipes was the YW super food smoothie, just to let you know straight away it’s green but don’t let the colour put you off. Here’s a simple 5 step guide to whipping it up in your own kitchen in less than 10 minutes.

  1. Invest in a quality blender

The wonderful thing about our super food smoothie is that you don’t need that much to get started just a good quality blender (we swear by MagiMix’s CS 5200)  It’s quick, easy and really efficient. We can’t believe how much of a difference it made having the three bowl option, it made the whole process quicker so we could get on with some yoga outdoors.

It’s quick and easy

Blend and go, it only takes 10 minutes. Taking the smoothie with you on your journey.

  1. It provides a slow energy release

You won’t experience the ups and downs that you get in a fruit smoothie. Because the fibre rich greens slow down the absorption of fruit sugars, providing you with right amount of energy. To get you feeling bouncy and bright before you’ve even stepped on a train.

  1. It tops up on your five fruit and veg

If you feel lethargic and are in need of a boost. If you’ve living or working in London perhaps you working from home over the Olympics. If so, this recipe could be used as a mid afternoon boost. The more super food smoothies that you enjoy, the more protein you’re introducing to your eating plan. To put is simply your body uses amino acids to produce protein, so it’s a great all rounder.

5. It’s a great introduction to a healthier way of eating

It’s so easy to get started and add a green smoothie to your everyday. If after a couple of weeks your feeling more vital, you might want to increase your raw food intake. It can be a gateway to the world of raw food. So get started today and get blending.
